A History of Innovation

1987

Dynalite was founded by John Gunton in 1987. Originally specialising in lighting controls for the live music scene, our products were the favourite of local Australian garage bands. Our hallmark product, Studio4, became popular for its ability to sync the lighting to the beat of the music.

1989

DyNet, Dynalite’s proprietary communication method, was developed by John Gunton. This breakthrough communication method still forms the backbone of Dynalite systems today and offers the most scalable platform for lighting control on the market.

1991

In the 90s, there was an industry shift from phase-cut to 1–10-volt control. We developed the DTK range of dimmers to meet this new demand. Available with 1, 2, 4, or 12 channels, this versatile product featured a red external heat sync which soon became a signature of the Dynalite range.

2009

In 2009, Dynalite was acquired by Philips Lighting, and henceforth we were known as Philips Dynalite. We continued to grow steadily and expand our operations into new markets.

2018

In 2018 Philips Lighting rebranded to become Signify.

Today

Signify is the global leader in lighting for professionals, consumers and lighting for the Internet of Things, with over 114 million connected light points globally and €7.5 billion in sales in 2022.
